TFF President İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu Accuses Former Chairman Mehmet Büyükekşi of Mismanagement Over EURO2024 Spending

Turkey Football Federation (TFF) President İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu has made serious allegations against former chairman Mehmet Büyükekşi, accusing him of excessive and unnecessary spending during EURO2024. In an interview on *Ekol TV*’s “Az Önce Konuştum” program, hosted by Candaş Tolga Işık, Hacıosmanoğlu detailed financial mismanagement claims and discussed significant changes to Turkish football for the upcoming season.

**Foreign Player Rule to Be Abolished Next Season**

Hacıosmanoğlu announced that the current foreign player limit will be removed for the next season. However, he stated that new criteria would be introduced to regulate the quality of foreign players while promoting the development of local talent. The TFF president emphasized that this change aims to boost the level of competition in Turkish football while providing more opportunities for homegrown players.

**Villas for World Cup Qualification**

Hacıosmanoğlu made a bold promise to the Turkish National Football Team, pledging to reward players with villas if they qualify for the next FIFA World Cup. “We haven’t qualified for the World Cup in 22 years. If we do it this time, I will personally give the players villas in Bodrum,” he stated. He revealed plans to build 4,000 villas in Bodrum, offering them as an incentive for the team’s success.

**€4.68 Million Spent on Hospitality During EURO2024**

One of Hacıosmanoğlu’s most pointed criticisms was directed at the spending on hospitality during EURO2024. He disclosed that €4.68 million was spent on hosting guests, including an additional €70,000 in costs for officials who stayed in luxury hotels even after the tournament had ended. “Why were they still staying there after the event was over?” Hacıosmanoğlu questioned.

He also revealed that €2 million was spent on tickets, €633,000 on luxury suites, and another €2.7 million on UEFA tickets. Hacıosmanoğlu hinted at future financial audits to investigate these expenditures and ensure that funds were used properly.

**Future Reforms in Turkish Football**

Looking ahead, Hacıosmanoğlu’s leadership appears focused on bringing greater transparency and accountability to Turkish football. His decision to abolish the foreign player limit and implement new regulations reflects his commitment to improving the sport in Turkey. These reforms are expected to have a major impact on the structure and competitiveness of Turkish football, both domestically and internationally.
